Archivation Exploration’s first issue presents the proceedings of the Sowell Collection Conference, held in the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library in April 2015. Authors Hunter Bullock, Emma Foster, and Garrett Dewbre are Texas Tech University undergraduate students who participated in the conference through their enrollment in Prof. Kurt Caswell’s EVHM Class. This class, which conducts research in the Sowell Collection archives, always produces exceptional and impressive papers, and I thank the students for their participation in the conference and our e-journal. I also thank the other writers who contributed their creativity and research to this journal; they are good friends and colleagues, and I hope to see them again next year!

I want to remind all researchers and writers that we are accepting submissions for two thematic issues.

Here’s the CFP: Archivation Exploration, an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open access journal from Texas Tech University Libraries, invites both scholarly and creative submissions for its two thematic issues: Sports (Fall 2016) and Weather (Fall 2017).

Both themes are intentionally broad. Sports and Weather: From baseball to fly fishing; from tornadoes to fog; history, biography, new (or old) technology; famous games, infamous storms; in literature, song, and film. Submissions using archival or special collections primary resource material will be given preference.

Deadline for submission is: July 26, 2016 (Sports) and July 26, 2017 (Weather).
